Alexa Wont Turn On

Well, the echo does not have a power button so it is automatically going to power on as soon as you are going to plug it in. If you see that the echo dot is registered, plugging it in and waiting for it to connect to the internet is all that you need to do in order to turn it on.

Also, the only way to turn off the echo dot is but unplugging it from the power. You can also activate the Echo Dot’s mute function if you want to leave your Echo dot plugged in and do not want the echo to listen to your conversations.


  1. First, plug the power adapter in the Echo dot.
  2. Plug the power adapter in the wall.
  3. Then wait for the ring so that it can illuminate.
  4. When you see that the light ring is turning to blue and then it turns off, then your Echo dot is on as well as ready to use.


Why Isn’t my Alexa Echo Device Turning On?

If you see that your device is not turning on, then you are looking for the power button. The only Alexa Setup device that has the power buttons are on the echo tap and on all the third-party smart speakers.


The echo dot does not have a power button and it is designed to turn on as soon as you plug it in. if you see that the light ring on the echo is not illuminating when you plug it in, that indicates a problem with the dot, the power supply, or the outlet that you have used.


If it is not turning on, but when the echo does not blink, then that means that there is an issue with the dot, the outlet that you might have used, or the device has not been set up or registered properly.


Here are some things that you can try if you see that your Alexa Won’t turn on or Echo Dot Won’t Turn On:


Try Plug/Unplug Power Adaptor:

Well, when you are using different Echo devices, then you must try to unplug and then plug the adaptor. You can also try to swap the power adapters. If you see that the power adapter works, then the original one is probably a bad one and you need to try the alternate one.


Plug the Different Power Outlet

Well, if it is possible, then you must unplug the echo and then plug it into the different power outlets. When you’re using the power strip, you need to make sure that it is switched on and the other devices are working when it is plugged in.


Try Performing a Soft Reset:

Well, you need to unplug the adapter from the wall and leave it unplugged for a few minutes. After that, you need to plug in and then see if your Echo is turning on or not.


Check the Light on Alexa Echo smart device

When you see that your device is lighting up orange, then it will mean that Echo needs to be set up. Well, you need to follow the normal procedure while using the Alexa app on your phone and then you have to try it again.

If you see that still, Alexa Echo won’t turn on, then you need to perform these steps:

  1. First, make sure that the device is plugged properly in the power.
  2. Also, press and hold the reset button with the help of the paperclip, or in some devices it in by pressing the microphone off and the volume down button, or by pressing the action button.
  3. After you can wait for at least 20 seconds.
  4. Then you need to check if the light ring is turning orange or not.
  5. Well, if you see that the light turns orange, then you must use the Alexa app on your phone in order to Set Up Alexa Echo device.
